Where are you in life?
Are you where you thought you would be?
If you could go back in time, would you make changes?
Take a few minutes, reflect on where you are in your life at this very moment, whether you would have imagined it being this way, and if you could go back, and make a change, what would it be.
Recently, I reached out to my Journey Evolution community to see if anyone had any inspirational quotes they would like me to write about on my blog. Jillian Pendi-Curate suggested I write about this quote from Benjamin Franklin.
After reading this quote a few times and letting it simmer in my mind a bit, I began thinking about where I was in my life, on my journey, and how I felt about it. To me, this quote suggests that it is unfortunate that we develop our wisdom so late in the game of life.
However, I would like to challenge that. As I think about where I am in my life, what I have experienced, what I have learned along the way, I am exactly where I need to be. Would it have been better knowing what I know now, say 20 years ago?
I do not know. Maybe… What would be the fun in that though?
Life is about learning and growing from all of your experiences, both good and bad.
Would you agree?
With those experiences comes the wisdom. Is it such a bad thing that we acquire it later in our life as opposed to when we are younger? I find it quite inspiring and motivating to look back to see how far I have come in my own journey and still have half a life to live.
Honestly, to inject my current life experience and knowledge in to my younger self, I am not sure I would have even been equipped to handle it, mentally or emotionally.
I cannot say life would have been any more enjoyable if I had the wisdom from my life experiences. There may have been a bit less stress but I probably would have stressed over the things I have not learned yet.
I actually posed the following question in my Journey Evolution Facebook community:
“Would you rather take all of the knowledge you have right now with you back to the age of 10 years old or would you rather be age 45 and have 50 million dollars?”
Of course, there is no right or wrong answer. Everyone will respond differently based on his or her own personal perception. It is an interesting question, nonetheless.
I think the most important things to remember are to appreciate every moment you have, enjoy the process of learning as you move through life, and acknowledge how far you’ve come along the way.
Now it’s your turn.
How does this quote inspire you?
