Is there something you really want and are taking action?

Has anything jumped in the way of you making progress?

Will that obstacle continue to hold you back from achieving what you want?

Take a few minutes and think about any time you have wanted something and have set a course towards it and started taking action. You are making progress but then all of a sudden you hit what seems like an unmovable roadblock.

This quote came to me at the exact time I needed it because I have been working toward my vision, which is to empower men and women with the skills and tools to live with confidence, self-worth, and inner-happiness.  There were, however, a handful of recent unexpected letdowns leaving me quite bruised and battered mentally and emotionally. It had me question my intentions and ask myself was it worth fighting for.

The answer was “YES!” which I knew from the start.

Although I had to stop for a second… well, maybe a little longer than that, and regroup. I had to remember my vision and the importance of what it meant to me.

This quote is a great reminder that if there is something you really want then a few, or several, bumps in the road should not stop you. That turning back is not an option. The only direction is forward.

Do you remember being a kid, playing at the park or on the playground, and trying to run up the slide?

It was challenging. It was hard. You kept sliding down. After every attempt, you took a step back, regrouped, and tried again, climbing up a little further each time. No matter what, you wanted to get to the top of that slide.

What was the end-result? You did it… eventually… but you did it.  Nothing got in the way of accomplishment.

Yes. It is a rather simplistic task when comparing it to the many life goals each of us strives to achieve but the concept is the same.

If you are familiar with my writing and message, you know I believe there is a hidden meaning behind all events. Those strategically placed obstacles along our journey are there for a reason. They are to test how bad we really want something. They are there to help us decide if what we really want in life is worth the effort.

So, ask yourself, are you willing to let anything stop you from achieving what it is you want?

For me, the answer is no. When those obstacles beat me down, I will take a step back, dust myself off, and continue to move forward.

Now it’s your turn.

How does this quote inspire you?

Tell me about an experience where you were working towards a goal or task and an obstacle, or several, got in your way. What happened?

Did you decide is was no longer worth the effort or did you realize what you wanted was worth it no matter what stood in your way?
