Do you want to make a change?
Are you doing anything to make that happen?
Take a few minutes now and look back to any of those times when you’ve said you wanted to do or change something but never actually followed through. What was it specifically that you wanted to change and is it something you still desire today?
This quote by Jen Sincero is a wake-up call for anyone who constantly wants, wants, wants but doesn’t actually do anything about it. Thoughts of wanting and wishing are great. They provide a vision, a direction of where you would like to go. However, without your full commitment to that wanted change and the inspired action to back it up, nothing will happen.
It’s like being in a car with no engine. You know where you want to go, you have the fuel, which are your thoughts, but without the movement, you’re not going anywhere.
So many people say they want to make changes in one or more areas of their lives. Let’s be honest, when it comes down to it they are just not willing to put in the effort to get it done.
Why does this happen? Is something you have experienced or perhaps currently going through now?
There are a number of reasons why. It could be fear, or the belief that you can’t change, or perhaps not knowing what to do to get started or take that first step.
However, I think a main reason why the desire to change is isn’t strong enough. The individual doesn’t have a powerful enough motivating factor to push them forward.
Think about it. If you truly wanted something, like deep down within you, do you think it would be possible for you to find a way?
Can you recall any time in your life where your motivating factor for wanting something was so strong that nothing stood in your way? You got shit done. It wasn’t an issue. You made it happen.
When your desire to change is stronger than your desire to stay the same, you are willing to take inspired action. You are willing to step outside of your comfort zone. You are willing to stop doing what you’ve always done and start doing what needs to be done for that change to take place.
So, if you want change in your life, the question comes down to, “How bad do you want it?” Rate it on a scale from one to ten. If it is low on your motivation scale, that’s ok as long as you accept and move on. However, if it is an eight or above on your motivation scale, it’s time to get started today!
