Do you often worry about things that have yet to happen?

Is your worrying affecting how you feel in the present moment?

Do you often experience anxiety of the potential outcome of future events?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, take a minute now to reflect back on all of the things you constantly worry or have worried about. Determine how many times, if at all, any of your worries actually came true.

This quote by Ana Monnar is a powerful reminder that no matter how much you worry, life still happens. It’s going to unfold either way. You can’t control the future. However, consider how much time and energy people sometimes spend in the present moment worrying about stuff that may or may not happen.

Does that resonate with you?

Based on my life experience, I can look back at all of those moments where I spent way too much time worrying. I can say all that really did for me was cause nothing but unneeded stress and anxiety. It didn’t provide a solution or change an outcome and it sure didn’t allow me to live in the present moment.

In addition, looking back at all of those instances now, and all that I’ve learned along the way, I can acknowledge how silly it was and how I chose to allow myself to get wrapped up in stuff I had no control over.

When you constantly worry, you create all of these imaginary worst-case scenarios in your mind. None of which are even true with the majority of it never happening. This leads to being in a fearful state while you are in the present moment where you are actually very safe. This takes a toll on both your mental and physical health. It wears you down.

Would you also agree that worrying also robs you from enjoying your life?

If you consider yourself a constant worrier and don’t understand why, start by looking within to get clarity.

What is it specifically that comes to your mind when you begin worrying? Is it only in certain situations or does it apply to all areas of your life?

Discover what the root cause is because only then can you begin to start healing from the inside out. It could be that you need to have control with an underlying fear of uncertainty.

In my most recent book, Unmasking Fear, I discuss the fear of uncertainty and the impact it has on our lives. It can prohibit us from experiencing and enjoying what is happening in our lives right now.

Life is going to happen no matter how much time and energy you spend worrying about something or someone.

Consider for a second, that if you were able to let go of that worry, how would that affect your well-being moving forward?

I am willing to bet it would be refreshing. It would be relieving. I say this because that is how I feel when I embrace uncertainty. In addition, I also practice an attitude of gratitude, as well as having faith that everything will work out the way it is supposed to.

The future is unknowable. You can organize, plan, and prepare as best you can for that imagined worst-case scenario. However, life will continue to move forward and you are strong enough to handle whatever it is that comes your way.

Now it’s your turn.

How does this quote inspire you?

Tell me about an experience where you were worrying about some future event that never happened. What did that worry cause you to experience in the present moment? Have you been able to let go of worrying about the future? Or is it still something your struggle with today? If so, how is that affecting your daily life?
